Please note: You are responsible for reading the product descriptions and viewing all images before making a purchase. As our items are handmade, minor variations are a natural part of the process.

1. Consumer Guarantees (Faulty or Not as Described Items)

Under the Australian Consumer Law, you are entitled to a remedy (replacement, repair, or refund) if your product is faulty, is not fit for its intended purpose, or does not match the description or sample provided.

Minor Problem

If your item has a minor fault (one that can be easily fixed), we will choose to either repair the item or provide a replacement.

Major Problem

You are entitled to a full refund or replacement if there is a major problem with your item. A major problem includes when the item:

Has a problem that would have stopped you from buying it if you had known about it.

Is unsafe.

Is significantly different from the description or sample.

Is substantially unfit for its common purpose and cannot easily be fixed within a reasonable time.

How to lodge a claim for a faulty item:

Please contact us at info@glittertrench.com within 14 days of receiving your order.

Provide your order number, a detailed description of the fault, and clear photographs showing the issue.

If we confirm a fault, we will provide instructions for returning the item.

Return shipping costs: If the item is confirmed to have a fault, we will reimburse you for the reasonable return shipping costs. Please keep your postage receipt.

2. Hygiene Exclusion (Change of Mind)

Due to hygiene reasons, and in line with standard industry practices for earrings, we do not offer refunds or exchanges for change of mind, or if you simply decide you do not like the product after receiving it.

This includes issues such as:

Changed your mind about the style, colour, or size.

Found the item cheaper elsewhere.

The item was worn or damaged by you.

The problem was made known to you before purchase (e.g., if it was listed as a ‘second’ or ‘sample’).

3. Processing and Refunds

Proof of Purchase: All returns must be accompanied by proof of purchase (e.g., your order number or a receipt).

Processing Time: Once we receive and inspect the returned item, we will notify you of the outcome.

Refund Method: Approved refunds will be processed back to your original method of payment within 15 business days.

4. Important Notes

Handmade Nature: Due to the nature of our handmade products, slight variations in colour, pattern, or size are not considered faults.

Wear and Tear: This policy does not cover damage caused by misuse, accident, or normal wear and tear over time.

Incorrect Address: We are not responsible for orders shipped to incorrectly entered addresses.

The main rule is to avoid soaking the plastic charm and to use a very gentle touch.

Materials Needed:

Small amount of lukewarm (not hot) water

A few drops of mild dish soap (free of bleach or harsh degreasers)

Two clean, soft cloths (microfiber or lint-free is best)

Cotton swab (Q-tip)

Clean, dry towel

Step 1: Clean the stainless steel post/hook (the part that goes in your ear)

Dampen a cotton swab with either rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) or hydrogen peroxide.

Carefully swab the earring post, hook, or clip - the part of your earring that touches your ear.

Keep the alcohol/peroxide ONLY on the metal components and away from the plastic charm, as these chemicals can damage the finish or cause the plastic to become brittle.

Allow the alcohol/peroxide to air dry completely.

Step 2: Clean the plastic charm and the remaining metal

Fill a small bowl with lukewarm water and add a drop or two of mild dish soap to create a gentle solution.

Dampen one of your soft cloths with the soapy solution and wring it out until it is barely damp.

Gently wipe the metal components (excluding the plastic charm).

Gently wipe the plastic charm itself. Do not rub hard or use a brush, as the colouring (even if sealed) can be scratched or rubbed off. If the charm is just dirty, a gentle wipe should be enough.

If there are small crevices where the plastic meets the metal, use a corner of the damp cloth or a fresh cotton swab to gently clean the area.

Step 3: Rinse and dry

Dampen your second soft cloth with plain lukewarm water and wring it out well.

Gently wipe all parts of the earring again to rinse away any soap residue.

Immediately pat the entire earring dry with a clean, dry towel or cloth.

Allow the earrings to air dry completely for a few minutes before wearing or storing them.

Important care warnings for shrink plastic earrings

DO NOT SOAK: Never fully submerge the earrings for soaking, as water can potentially seep under any sealant, causing the design to bleed or separate from the plastic over time.

Avoid high heat: Keep them away from heat sources (like a car dashboard on a hot day), as the plastic can soften and warp.

No abrasives: Do not use abrasive cleaners (like baking soda paste) or rough brushes (even a standard toothbrush) on the plastic charm, as this will scratch the surface and permanently damage the artwork.

Keep away from chemicals: Avoid spraying perfumes, hairspray, or other chemicals directly onto the charms. Put your earrings on last.
